On pg. 9 the book is talking about how these boys jump off the same tree that the military trains people to jump out of airplanes... I think this is foreshadowing of at least one of these boys having to do this practice jump again and maybe a real jump out of an airplane. Also, on pg. 13 it talks about how Phineas won't wear p.j.'s because the military personel don't... I'm thinking he is going to be drated and perhaps killed in the war.

This is an excellent prediction because it's based on specific details from the text. We'll see if this comes to pass....

I think that the first three chapters kind of summed up Finny and Gene's relationship. It pretty much tells you all that they do and what results after. Also, one other thing that stood out ot me was that Finny can get away with almost anything he wants. First, he skips dinner and no one notices. Then he and Gene go to the beach for the whole day totally unnoticed. I just can't believe that they haven't gotten caught yet. The thing that really confused me was when Finny broke the swimmming record. I can't believe that he wanted to keep it a secret. It seems like he wants to be a very athletic guy, which he is, but he doesn't want to show it. I also get the ssense that Finny and Gene aren't best friends because Gene seems to be hesistant about everyhting that they do. He also seems a kittle uncomfortable around Finny. overall I think that the first three chapters were good but a little slow of a dtart for me.

This is a good overview of the ideas in the chapter. You give a couple of specific details to support your conclusions. You could definitely take your ideas further. For instance, why might Finny not want anyone to know about his swimming record? Take a guess. Also, what details in the book make you think Gene is uncomfortable around Finny?

In Ch. 3 I think that when Finny saved Genes life it's forshadowing for later in the book. Because I think that in the end one of them will save each other again maybe in war. I also thought Blitzball was a cool sport, although Finny and Gene get really competetive. And, I'm a little confused about the Super Suicide Society. Overall though I think it's a good book so far.

Chapter 1:
This part of the book is very boring. I guess thats how all books start out but I am very sure that it will eventually get very exciting. When I started to read this book it felt as though there was or is going to be a mystery of some sort. I got the first impression of Finny being very competive I feel this way about Gene too. I predict that they will both be in a conflict involving pure pressure.

Chapter 2:
I got the impression that Finny really does care about Gene, no matter how bad he talks about him. I thought that it was very bold of Finny to save Gene because Finny to me is so unpredictable to me. I would have never guessed that Finny would do that. I was wondering after the chapter why would Gene lie to Finny when Finny asks Gene if he is still afraid of the tree? I think if he was really his best-friend he would have told him yes I am afraid. It just puzzles me. Over all this chapter was better than the other. It was more informing about their characteristics they have.

Chapter 3:
While I was reading this chapter I was pondering why wouldn't Finny tell anybody that he had broke the school record? He seems like the person who would go on and brag about it. The end of the chapter was a very good ending. I predict that Finny and Gene will be in Europe fighting for their country. I get this impression because the author relates everything back to World War 2. I also predict that one of them will get seriously injured.

I have liked the start of this book. I am actually reading it. I find Finny and Gene's realtionship very intresting. I still can't tell if Finny means when he says that Gene is his best friend. The both have seemed to pull tricks behind each others backs. Finny seems to be really cocky and do things for attention, like making up Blitzball and being really good at it. Finny also seems though to really care about Gene, he saved his life. Gene wouldn't have been in the tree if it weren't for Finny though. It is really hard to tell. Gene on the other hand thinks things without Finny knowing. It seems like Gene is very jealous of Finny. He just wants to be better than him. I like this book so far though.

In chapter 11 the main thing that I was wondering about was if that when Brinker brought everyone in to find out what happened when Finny fell out of the tree, was he just trying to take a joke to far, was he just trying to be a jerk, or did he really want to know what happened. I think that he was trying to be funny, but he went way to far. He went so far that I think he was the only person that really cared about what happened. He tried to take a joke farther than what was neccesary. I dont think that he was trying to be a jerk just because his personality is one that he wants to be funny and maybe tries to hard to be.
